Air Rifle & Pistol - Fridays From 7pm on Indoor & 50 m Ranges

Air rifle and pistol shooting are precision shooting sports that involve using air-powered firearms to hit targets at specific distances.
These events emphasise accuracy, control, mental focus and come in various disciplines.

Air Rifle Competition
In air rifle competitions, shooters use .177 caliber air rifles. Event includes shooting at a target from variable distances from 10 meters. The targets feature a series of concentric circles, with the innermost circle representing the highest score.

Competitors often shoot in a standing position, and events may include both individual and team formats. Athletes must demonstrate exceptional control over breathing, trigger pull, and stance to achieve consistent accuracy.

Air Pistol Shooting
Air pistol shooting also involves .177 caliber air pistols, with events typically set at 10 meters. Shooters fire while standing, using one hand to hold the pistol. Like air rifle shooting, events are scored based on precision, with targets similar to those used in rifle events.

Field target
Field target shooting is a dynamic and challenging discipline that combines precision shooting with the outdoors.
It typically takes place in natural settings, such as forests or fields, and involves shooting at metallic targets that are placed at varying distances and elevations.

Plinking
Air rifle plinking is a casual and recreational shooting activity that focuses on informal target practice, often using air rifles in a relaxed setting. Unlike competitive shooting disciplines, plinking emphasizes fun and skill development rather than strict rules and scoring.

Olympic Connections
Both air rifle and air pistol shooting are included in the Olympic Games, highlighting their international significance. They made their Olympic debut in the 1984 Los Angeles Games for air rifle and the 1988 Seoul Games for air pistol. The events are governed by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).

Olympic air rifle and pistol events are popular for their emphasis on skill and concentration, drawing athletes from around the world. Competitors undergo rigorous training to refine their techniques and mental strategies, making the Olympic stage a pinnacle of achievement in these disciplines.
