BLACKPOWDER
Step back in time and experience the traditional art of black powder shooting.
This historic discipline involves the use of muzzle-loading firearms, from classic flintlock muskets to vintage percussion rifles. Black powder shooting offers a unique challenge, requiring a deep understanding of the weapon and meticulous attention to detail. Our experienced members are on hand to share their knowledge and help you master this fascinating form of shooting, whether you’re a history enthusiast or a shooter looking for a new challenge.
GALLERY RIFLE
Gallery rifle shooting is a fast-paced and exciting discipline, combining accuracy with rapid-fire action. Typically conducted at shorter ranges, this style of shooting uses rifles chambered for pistol calibres, making it an accessible and enjoyable option for shooters of all levels. Our club hosts regular gallery rifle sessions and competitions, offering plenty of opportunities to test your speed and precision against the clock.


PRACTICAL
For those who crave dynamic and high-adrenaline shooting, practical shooting is the perfect choice. This discipline involves navigating a course filled with various targets, each presenting its own unique challenge. Practical shooting is all about speed, accuracy, and the ability to think on your feet. At BRP we offer a range of courses designed to test your shooting skills in real-world scenarios. Shooting is off-hand (standing up) with .22 calibre rimfire rifles at distances of 20 yards on an indoor range.


PRONE - PRECISION SMALLBORE
Prone shooting is the ultimate test of precision and control. This discipline focuses on long-range accuracy, with shooters lying flat on their stomachs to minimise movement and maximise stability. Using precision .22 calibre rim-fire ammunition single-shot target rifles, our prone shooting sessions are perfect for those who wish to refine their skills.
Whether you’re preparing for a competition or simply want to experience the thrill of hitting the bullseye, our expert instructors will guide you every step of the way.
Distances shot are 25 yards (indoor range), 50 metres and 100 yards (outdoor ranges)
All competitive shooting in this section is under the rules of the National Smallbore Rifle Association of Gt. Britain. All year round inter-club, inter-county and national competitions are entered with teams or on an individual basis.
